Official signing of the memorandum of cooperation between NAC Kazatomprom JSC and Satbayev University in the context of the International Scientific and Educational Center of Nuclear Industry (ISECNI) took place in Almaty.
At the moment, 30 Master’s degree students are studying at the University under the following programs: “Geological survey, prospecting and exploration of minerals”, “Chemical technology of non-organic substances”, “Automation and management”. Beside the Master’s programs, there is a unique knowledge base of the uranium industry in ISECNI: research and development efforts are taken, scientific and educational and methodological aids, multimedia training materials for NAC Kazatomprom JSC are developed.
“The university put a lot of efforts to improve the level of teaching. We digitized a great deal of scientific materials, introduced and adjusted work-based remote learning for Kazatomprom’s employees. We sent 10 teachers on probation to uranium mining enterprise – Karatau LLP. Besides, each semester during the whole period of education Master’s degree students undertake internship at production facilities of Kazatomprom,” the principal of the Satbayev University Iskander Beisembetov said.
As the Chief Operations Officer of Kazatomprom Marat Niyetbayev said at the official ceremony, “International Scientific and Educational Center was created, first of all, to train own specialists for uranium industry”.
“Highly skilled personnel for any project is the key component of success. However, staff shortage in our sphere is the primary challenge we should overcome. We have 150 applications, among then we have selected the most talented 30 students, who will follow our steps after graduation. I am sure that Master’s program students will greatly contribute to the development of nuclear industry in the Republic of Kazakhstan,” Marat Niyetbayev said.
