The Kazakhstan delegation headed by the CEO of NAC Kazatomprom JSC (hereinafter referred to as “Kazatomprom” or the “Company”) Yerzhan Mukanov visited the Republic of Azerbaijan and held a number of bilateral meetings.
During the visit, organized with the assistance of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Azerbaijan, meetings were held with First Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Yagub Eyubov, Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev, Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC Iqbal Huseynov, as well as Secretary General of TRACECA IGC Asset Asavbayev.
The meeting participants considered the possibilities of expanding mutually beneficial cooperation and discussed issues related to the transit of Kazakh uranium products through the territory of Azerbaijan. The parties have a positive experience of long-term cooperation. Since 2018, the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) has already been successfully used by Kazatomprom as an alternative way to deliver finished products to its customers. The Company has a permit for the transit of up to 3,500 tons of uranium. Currently, Kazatomprom continues working on increasing the quota for cargo transportation and plans to fully use the transit potential of TITR.
Following the results of the meetings, the parties expressed their readiness to establish mutually beneficial cooperation between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan and further strengthen bilateral relations.
